She's gone. Still going strong, just short of fifteen glorious years and a hundred thousand miles this time round the clock, the blue car was brought to a standstill. The M.O.T. mechanic was still writing out the failure certificate at seven in the evening after four gruelling hours of penmanship. Yeah, she's gone. I drove her to the scrap yard this morning and I didn't look back. "Me and Bert, we drove you halfway to the sun.." Stupid when you could still get into the thing and drive to Edinburgh and back without any qualm. Tours of the UK with Bert Jansch in the early nineties were followed by loyal service many times around the country. Of course, what I fancy now is a transit but the insurance! Maybe a cabriolet........ |
